Otto te Plate (born 28 June 1967 in Lichtenvoorde, the Netherlands) is a contemporary artist based in Hove, United Kingdom. Working primarily with oil paint on canvas, he is best known for his figurative paintings that employ a restrained palette of muted tones and diluted layers of paint applied across expansive surfaces.

His work is characterized by a distinctive visual language centred on the human figure, often portraying himself or close relatives as recurring subjects. Through these intimate representations, te Plate explores the body in relation to aging and mortality, while also examining its connection to diverse social and environmental contexts.

His paintings balance emotional immediacy with a contemplative approach to human vulnerability and presence.

Otto te Plate has exhibited his work in the United Kingdom, including at Fabrica x Sussex Contemporary in Brighton. His ongoing practice continues to investigate themes of identity, memory, and the physical realities of the human condition through a consistently personal and reflective body of work.
